Mariam El Bialy

Meet Mariam El Bialy a fierce and unstoppable 20yr old girl; who knows exactly what she wants and does what it takes to get it. Bialy began her journey with artistic gymnastics at the age of 3 and later joined the National Team at the age of 12. Her passion for artistic gymnastics was her drive behind everything she wanted to achieve. In 2016, Bialy forcefully retired due to a wrist injury. Though Bialy wanted to pursue artistic gymnastics, she had to stop after almost 13 years of hard work and effort. Nonetheless, Bialy decided to work her way around the circumstances regardless of how hard things may have been. She later started trampoline gymnastics a week after, and ended up joining the National Team in 2017. Bialy later participated in her first ever world age group, and worked harder than ever to prepare for the youth Olympic Games in 2018. Unfortunately Bialy later got injured in her ankle, 2 months before the African Championships, which was a qualification competition for the YOG. To stay safe, Bialy had to stay in a cast for 45 days, 45 days of which she decided to go to the gym every day and focus on different exercises – until she could begin her rehab process. After a long journey of ups and downs, Bialy later worked on preparing for the African Championships, and managed to get back on the trampoline after two weeks of removing her cast – She was finally able to join the training camp, get her routines back, and work on herself once again. Bialy is currently working towards everything she’s every dreamt of and continues working hard to get stronger, everyday. Her family has played a vital role in helping her get to where she is today, and have showed undeniable support. Particularly her mom, who has always believed in her, and taught her everything she needed to keep going throughout this journey. Bialy is a perfect example of someone with a strong mindset, she knows what she wants and she’ll do everything she needs to get it. Getting injured several times, and not qualifying for the African Championships are all just part of the process for her, she keeps her eye and mind on the bigger picture and enjoys every step of the journey. It’s always important to remember that what defines you best, is how you react to hardships and obstacles. It’s about how you decide to react to them and overcome them. It’s about doing what is best for you and pushing through, no matter how hard things may seem at first. Bialy’s perseverance and resilience is why she stands out and is inspirational in every way.
