Sama Farouk
Today I had the honor to speak to and learn about an exceptional talent that I’d love to introduce you all to; Sama Farouk.
Sama Farouk, member of the Egyptian National Kayak Team, an Olympian and an Arab & African Champion is an inspiration to many. Farouk is a student in the Faculty of Arts Department of Turkish Language, in Cairo University. Farouk, was initially inspired to Kayak when she got a glimpse of the boats in the Nile, which made her feel like she was determined to Kayak. Throughout her journey, Farouk’s biggest supporters were her parents, as well as, her coach Ahmed Saber. Farouk now has 112 Medals and is the world’s 32nd ranked 200-meter individual under-23 race. Since 2012 Farouk has been accomplishing great achievements, some of which are: Gold Medal in African Championships in Tunisia (2015), Alexandria Arab Championship (2016); where she was qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Moreover, she also received a Gold Medal in the Arab Championship in Luxor 2018 & finally a Gold Medal during the Arab championship in new city of Alamein 2019, which qualified her for the upcoming Olympics Games, in Tokyo, 2021. Farouk always manages to keep her head high with a huge smile on her face, regardless of the obstacles she faces. With a lot of support, determination & consistency, Farouk is unstoppable.
